Praha

P

Moriarty in Prague, Czech Republic. After a long drive from
Dortmund through bohemian hills and tiny czech villages we reach the suburbs of Praha. We say farewell to our companion Emit who has to head back to old England.
Some of us get lost in Smichov looking for coldwar era czech instruments… until we find an old Jolana electric bass, in a strange little shop that hasn’t changed since the 1950s – that includes the lady behind the counter. It’s november in Prague and the lights are dim but the Divadlo Archa theatre is warm still, swarming with a noisy crowd. Some people drove all the way from Vienna to listen to the show…
We cross the Karluv Most in the middle of the night and it’s silent and still and eerily empty. Seagulls from nowhere sleep on the piers of the bridge, glowing white over the dark Vltava waters; tomorrow we’ll be in München.
