Moriarty on tour: Festival Les Sept Collines, Saint-Etienne 11.07.2014.

Feels like one long day. Waking up in Québec City in the morning and stepping on a stage in St-Etienne 30 hours later, after a long sleepless journey in vans, planes, trains, buses, cars and traffic-jams over the Atlantic Ocean. Knackered. We re-unite with Christine Salem and her musicians in the backstage area of the venue that looks – and sounds – like a giant indoor stadium converted into a music venue for 1500 people. We rehearse all afternoon in the dressing-rooms, without the light of day. It’s cold in there. Or maybe it’s just the exhaustion that makes our bodies feel cold. We work on a new version of « Diamonds never Die » featuring Christine and the creole musicians. In the opposite room, Suzanne Vega is preparing. She opens the show and we watch from the backstage as she unfolds new and old songs in her elegant, cool ways…
