Toute sa vie, Robert Doineau a arpenté les bistrots, cafés-charbons et autres rendez-vous nocturnes des rues parisiennes, en quête de visages, de personnages, d’histoires et d’instants de vie échevelés.
Dessiné par Stephan Zimmerli pour l’exposition « Doisneau et la Musique » à la Philharmonie de Paris, ce carnet retrace les parcours du photographe en revenant sur les mêmes lieux, un demi-siècle plus tard : accoudés aux mêmes comptoirs, les visages du XXIe siècle y croisent les fantômes de ceux captés par Doisneau entre les années 50 et 80.

Throughout his entire life, Robert Doisneau kept chasing faces, characters, singular stories and unexpected happenings in a few Parisian bistrots, cafés and nightly haunts that he kept returning to, guided by his friends Giraud & Prévert.
Drawn by Stephan Zimmerli for the exhibition “Doisneau & Music” at the Paris Philharmonie, this sketchbook follows the footsteps of the famous photographer by returning to the same places, half a century later: standing along the same counters, the faces of the XXIst century merge with the ghosts of those captured by Doisneau between the fifties and the eighties.
